Tropicana Scraps New Packaging Amid Outcry From Nerdy Fans.

This is what the nerds fought for. I'm not making it up. This.

This is what the nerds fought for. I'm not making it up. This.

Tropicana Orange Juice had some problems last year.  Apparently, as people were getting shit-canned across the world and barely scraping pennies together for their bread and beans, they didn’t really want to spend four dollars for premium orange juice.  So orange juice sales slipped.  Tropicana thought of a way to fix it.

They changed their packaging.

And when they did that, they pissed off a loyal segment of their fan base.  An intense flood of nerdy emails informed Tropicana executives that the “new packaging sucked.”  Another email described it as “ugly.”

At the very heart of the complaints was the fact that Tropicana deleted their famous orange with a straw.

Really?  You can’t drink orange juice because you don’t see an orange with a straw?

It’s an orange with a straw.

Regardless, Tropicana has reverted back to the orange with a straw.  Their nerdy fans can now rest easy and drink their orange juice knowing that their outrage has scared executives into scrapping a $35 million initiative.

And the rest of us will go back to our bread and beans.

Tropicana packaging, old and new

Because when you're unemployed, you have time to be outraged by this.

Well, the new artwork is pretty despicable. It just looks like some generic industrial product. But still, I don’t think I would even think of trying to get them to change back.

  • Yeah, I mean with the economy in North America going straight down the crapper, troops and civilians dying in the Middle East, people starving in third-world countries, and drug wars waging in South America, we REALLY need to stop this destruction of our Tropicana Juice containers!!!
